Why you Should practice Mindfulness to Relieve Stress.

Mindfulness is the act of accepting your thoughts and emotions in any specific moment.

A completely new way to use your mind which has the potential change your life for the better!

We are always rushing around, busy, busy and busy.

Stress coming at us from every angle. 

This is just the nature of the modern era that we are living in. You cannot change the world around you but you can change your perception of it inside your mind!

Mindfulness is the act of stepping outside your own head and simply observing what is going on inside there. You'll be learning to transform your anxieties into calmness.

All you are learning is basically how to do absolutely nothing

Literally do nothing.

You will not even be actively thinking. Just allowing your thoughts to exist without engaging with them.

Rather than fixating on every thought and ending up ruminating, just observe it, let it be

Observe your thoughts like an astronomer observes the sky. He just watches, taking notes, learning. You can do the same with your own mind.

Whilst working you often find your mind wandering, lowering your productivity. The act of observing thoughts without engaging in them requires a surprising amount of focus, the more you practice the more naturally this will come to you. This will increase your ability to concentrate.

Try out this simple mindfulness exercise to increase your concentration:
  1. Find a place to sit. Preferably in public.
  2. Just stare into space, don't focus in on anyone or anything. Resist the urge to look at anything. No matter how tempting it may be. Just look ahead.
  3. Practice as often as you can, could be during your lunch break, waiting for the bus (Look to the other side of the road without focusing on any passing cars)
  4. Don't beat yourself up if you find you can't do it very well at first. You will improve with time.
  • Improved physical health

It has been proven that there is a direct link between physical and mental health.

Seeing as Mindfulness improves your mental health you know where I'm going with this. Stress is a major cause of many common health conditions. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Headaches
  • Heart problems
  • Weight gain, obesity
  • Asthma
So, if you suffer from any of these health problems, or others not on the list. You know what to do!

So go ahead and start practising Mindfulness!

Learning to relax is just as easy as it sounds.

Relaxation is just a state of mind, one you can learn to create all by yourself.

I would honestly like to say that looking at life objectively is one of the greatest lessons you could learn.

You wills soon start to see improvements in problematic areas of your life.

Keep practising daily, or whenever you feel like it. After all, relaxation is a pleasurable experience anyway. The ability to consciously alter the way we think separates us from the Apes. It makes us humans unique and special.
